Netherlands 1915 gulden rev DSLR.jpg
Steve Album Auction 53, lot 915

This type, listed for 1910-17, superseded a similar type (KM 122.2) struck 1904-09 with a different hairstyle for the queen. Silver gulden were struck in the Netherlands until 1940 and for the government-in-exile at the Philadelphia mint 1944-45. Postwar issues were reduced weight. This type is common in worn condition but scarce nice. The second specimen was lot 915 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $6,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS: Wilhelmina I, 1890-1948, AR gulden, Utrecht, 1915, struck at the Royal Dutch Mint in Utrecht, bust of Wilhelmina facing left, lettering around // crowned coat of arms dividing value and date on top, seahorse privy mark for mint master Copius Hoitsema; an incredibly rare example in proof; this is the single finest example graded at NGC and is housed in an NGC Generation 11 holder (circa August to November 2003), a superb example with lovely proof surfaces, NGC graded Proof 63."

Recorded mintage: 14,215,000.

Specification: 10 g, 0.720 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, lettered edge.

Catalog reference: KM 148, Sch-817.
