This specimen was lot 73322 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. 1/2 Gulden, 1908. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: broadaxe. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. A charmingly toned example with some underlying luster and only the subtlest hints of light wear." This type, struck 1898-1909, features the "coronation head" of queen Wilhelmina. On her coronation in 1898, the regency ended and she assumed full powers of the throne. This bust was used on all the silver and gold denominations from the ten cents to the ten gulden.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000, a common date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.945 fine silver, 22 mm diameter.
