Netherlands 1830-B 25 cents
This specimen was lot 1064 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it sold for €500 (about US$801 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume des Pays-Bas, Guillaume Ier (1815-1830), AR 25 cents, 1830 B, Bruxelles. Fines griffes au droit. presque Fleur de Coin. (Belgium, kingdom of the Netherlands, William I (1815-30), silver twenty-five cents of 1830, Brussels mint. Fine scratches on the obverse, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck in Utrecht and Brussels 1817-30. The 1830-B is a better date but not rare. After Belgium obtained her independence in 1830, the mint continued striking for the new country until its closure in 2018.
