Sincona sale 11, lot 926

This specimen was lot 926 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Nassau, Herzogtum Wilhelm, 1816-1839. Kronentaler 1831. Auf den Besuch der Münzstätte. Feine Kratzer. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Nassau, William I (1816-39), crown thaler of 1831, mint visit. Choice extremely fine.)"

This rare type was issued on the occasion of a visit by the duke to the mint in Wiesbaden.

Recorded mintage: 9,385 (including Dav-743).

Specification: 29.53 g, .871 fine silver, this specimen 29.40 g.
