Nassau 1817-CT L thaler Dav-741

Sincona sale 18, lot 1459

This specimen was lot 1459 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Kronentaler 1817. Limburg Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Nassau, crown thaler of 1817, Limburg mint, good very fine.)"

This one year type is scarce. In 1866, the duchy was swallowed up by Prussia and the coinage ended, tho one branch of the family now occupies the throne of the Netherlands.

Recorded mintage: 12,700.

Specification: 29.53 g, .871 fine silver, lettered edge, this specimen 29.38 g.
