This specimen was lot 3378 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), where it sold for $1,528. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States: Naples. Ducat, ND. Carlo V, 1519-1556. Laureate head right. Reverse: Double head eagle and crown above arms. NGC graded AU-53." Carlo V, also king of Spain and emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, ruled Naples and Sicily until his abdication in 1556. The imperial crown went to the Austrian branch while the Spanish branch obtained the Hapsburg possessions in Italy, most importantly Milan and Naples.
