This specimen was lot 3179 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "NAPLES: Charles II, 1665-1700, AR 20 grana, 1695, Charles II (King of Spain, Naples and Sicily), Giovanni Maiorino die master and Andrea Giovane, mintmaster, •CAR•II•D G•REX• HISP•ET•NEAP•, crowned, draped and cuirassed bust right; •JM• below bust // badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece with central pellet, suspended within ornate scalloped frame; AG A and pellets across fields; •G•XX• (value) below, About XF, ex Dr. Robert A. Rosenfeld Collection." This type is listed for 1691-1700. The king is depicted much handsomer on these Italian coins than his portraits on Spanish coins, which may have been more accurate.
