Stephen Album sale 43, lot 894

This specimen was lot 894 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Krishna Raja Wodeyar, 1799-1868, AR rupee, Mysore, AH1248 year 48, a wonderful mint state example! PCGS graded MS64." This type is listed in the SCWC for AH 1215-1248 with various regnal years, usually garbled. Krishnaraja Wadiyar III was maharaja of Mysore after Hyder Ali and Tipu Ali were overthrown by the British. He himself was set aside by the British in 1831, who ruled the kingdom directly until 1881, when the state was restored to his adopted son, Chamarajendra Wadiyar X.
