Steve Album sale 51, lot 2687

This specimen was lot 2687 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $570. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MYSORE: Krishna Raja Wodeyar, 1799-1868, AV 1/4 rupee (pavali), Mysore, AH1248, dancing figure Chamundi // Persian text, NGC graded MS62." Krishnaraja Wadiyar III was maharaja of Mysore after Hyder Ali and Tipu Ali were overthrown by the British. He himself was set aside by the British in 1831, who ruled the kingdom directly until 1881, when the state was restored to his adopted son, Chamarajendra Wadiyar X. This type was struck AH 1220-1229, 1244-1248.
