Steve Album Auction 55, lot 2596

This specimen was lot 2596 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Krishna Raja Wodeyar, 1799-1868, AR rupee, Mysore, AH1221 year 47, a lovely mint state example! PCGS graded MS63." This type is listed in the SCWC for AH 1215-1248 with various regnal years, usually garbled. Krishnaraja Wadiyar III was maharaja of Mysore after Hyder Ali and Tipu Ali were overthrown by the British. He himself was set aside by the British in 1831, who ruled the kingdom directly until 1881, when the state was restored to his adopted son, Chamarajendra Wadiyar X.
