The first specimen was lot 72644 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUSCAT AND OMAN. 5 Baisa, AH 1365 (1946). NGC PROOF-63 Cameo. Struck for use in Dhofar Province. A choice piece exhibiting deeply mirrored fields and an attractive brilliance highlighted by a pleasing cameo effect." The second specimen was lot 1466 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $446.25. The catalog description[2] noted, "MUSCAT & OMAN: Sa'ud b. Taimur, 1932-1970, 5 baisa, AH1365, Bombay mint proof restrike, with original mint envelope labeled H.M.'s Mint (His Majesty's Mint), PCGS graded Proof 65." The sultan, Said ibn Taimur, was overthrown in 1970 by his son, who renamed the country plain Oman. Dhofar province lies in the south of the country. This one year type is common.

Recorded mintage: 3,849,000 plus proofs.
