Steve Album Auction 52, lot 674

This specimen was lot 674 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Akbar I, 1556-1605, AV square mohur, Patna, AH987, legend within a square on both sides, mint name below the obverse, date in the lower left corner of the reverse; there is considerably weakness in the strike, not noted on the slab, ANACS graded XF40." This square mohur is listed for the Patna mint in AH 986 and 988. This example realized over four times the catalog value.
