This specimen was lot 3471 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Doppia 1778, Mailand. GOLD. Min. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön. (duchy of Milan, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, doppia of 1778, Milan mint. Minor edge split, very fine.)"
The doppia was originally twice the weight of the ducat but was considerably lighter by the time the Austrians issued this type 1778-80. The Austrians held Milan 1714-97 and 1815-59.
