This specimen was lot 73643 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/20 Onza, 2020-Mo. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-69. Smooth, pale gold coloration pervades throughout this delicate yet enchanting issue." Mexico began production of gold one ounce bullion coins to compete with the South African krugerrand. Fractionals, including this quarter ounce, are much scarcer. There have been several design changes and this type is recorded for 2000-23.

Recorded mintage: 700 plus 250 proofs.

Specification: 1.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, 13 mm diameter, reeded edge.
