This specimen is one of a type issued since 1997 as part of the reform of the Mexican peso (a previous version had stated "N$5"). When it was introduced, one dollar was about three pesos; today (December 2024), US$1 = 20.6 pesos.
Recorded mintage: 142,511,106.
Specification: 7.07 g, aluminum bronze center in a stainless steel ring, 25.5 mm diameter, plain edge.
