This specimen was lot 72168 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Gold Onza, 2015-Mo. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-70. Free from blemishes with mesmerizing frosty luster over the surfaces." Mexico began production of gold one ounce bullion coins to compete with the South African krugerrand. Fractionals are much scarcer. There have been several design changes and this type is recorded for 2000-17.

Recorded mintage: 4,800 plus 500 proofs.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 1 troy oz AGW, 34.5 mm diameter.
