This coin was minted in Mexico City to commemorate the centennial of the constitution of 1857 (hence the bust of Benito Juarez). The type was minted in small numbers compared to the ten pesos of 1955-56 and 1960 and is comparatively scarce. It was accompanied by a gold medal struck to the standard of the ten pesos of 1905-20.
