This specimen was lot 73237 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Pesos, 1944. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-66. Struck to commemorate the centennial of Mexican independence. An exceptional Gem, this alluring example offers deep a golden-orange appeal and great luster." This type was struck by Mexico 1921-31, 1944-47. No date is rare but 1947 is the restrike date.
