Mexico 1908-M 20 centavos

This specimen is an example of a type struck 1905-14 at Mexico City. The last branch mints, Zacatecas and Culiacan, were closed in 1905 and all official Mexican coinage since has borne the Mexico City mintmark ("M" or "Mo"). This type replaced the silver twenty centavos struck 1898-1905. The first specimen was lot 2320 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $94. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Mexico. 20 Centavos, 1908-M NGC About Unc. Key date. NGC graded About Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines)."

Recorded mintage: 350,000.

Specification: 5 g, 0.800 fine silver, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge.
