The first specimen was lot 1194 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $1,610. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Augustín I Iturbide, 1822-1823. 2 Reales, 1823 Mo JM. Bare head l., title by the Providence of God, rather than by the Grace of God used by hereditary monarchs. Rv. Crowned eagle on cactus without snake, title First Constitutional Emperor of Mexico. Bright silver-white surfaces highlight a forceful strike. MS-62 (NGC)."
