This specimen was lot 25130 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1808-TH, AU55 NGC, armored bust, lightly toned with bold features and considerable mint luster, very nice for the type." This type with the imaginary bust was struck 1808-12; the succeeding type with the "standard bust" of Ferdinand VII is much scarcer even tho it was struck over a longer span of years.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .762 troy oz AGW.
