Sedwick Treasure auction 27, lot 500

This specimen was lot 500 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 27 (Winter Park, FL, May 2020), where it sold for $714. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico City, Mexico, cob 1/2 real Royal (galano), 1719J. Bold VF, fully detailed except for final digit of date, toned fields, typically holed at bottom." The silver cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine in 1728. They are not rare but very scarce with legible dates.
