This specimen was lot 626 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 1 real, 1629 (D), very rare. Nicely toned VF with good full cross, clear bottom half of date and o of mintmark outside of most of shield." The SCWC mentions this type for 1622, 1627, 1630, 1643 and 1651-54 and notes 1618-34 with assayer "D". Some were surely made every year but almost none have legible dates, rendering them of little interest to collectors.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
