This specimen was lot 24743 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Friedrich Wilhelm Taler 1870-A, Proof 63 NGC, reflective surfaces with exceptionally sharp design features, very rare type in Proof." This is the only thaler issued from this locality during the eighteenth century. Enough were saved that it is not rare.
