This specimen was lot 34058 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Friedrich Franz II Proof 1/48 Taler 1852 PR65 NGC. A sterling specimen, with fully mirrored fields emitting bright luster that interplays nicely with the sharp, frosty devices." This type was struck 1852-66 in large numbers and is common. It seems to be the only minor struck for this state in the 1850's other than some dreilings (three pfennig, KM 310).

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 1.30 g, 0.208 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 311.
