Mecklenburg-Schwerin 1821 dreiling

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70570

This specimen was lot 70570 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $80. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Mecklenburg-Schwerin. 3 Pfennig, 1821. NGC MS-65. An exceptional gem. Brilliant with flashy luster." Altho the auction catalog listed this as a three pfennig, which is what it was worth, the coin clearly states that it is a dreiling (translated as "three-ling"). It was struck 1819-24 and has a low catalog value.
