from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70570
Meck-Schwerin SB518-70570r.jpg

This specimen was lot 70570 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Mecklenburg-Schwerin. 3 Pfennig, 1821. NGC MS-65. An exceptional gem. Brilliant with flashy luster." Altho the auction catalog listed this as a three pfennig, which is what it was worth, the coin clearly states that it is a dreiling (translated as "three-ling"). It was struck 1819-24 and has a low catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 516,616.

Specification: billon.

Catalog reference: KM-255.
