This specimen was lot 30646 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,740. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Friedrich Franz I 2/3 Taler 1817 MS62+ NGC. An already quite low mintage type that escalates considerably in value as a conditional rarity; notably difficult to procure in this virtually choice state, free of the usual planchet flaws that plague the type and with a soft luster that pairs nicely with faint pie polish." This is a rare one year type. The denomination, fading in popularity, was last struck in 1845.
