This specimen was lot 75522 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS. 1/4 Rupee, 1946. London Mint. George VI. PCGS MS-64." This type was struck 1946 only and is the third quarter rupee struck for the colony. The previous issue, in 1938, was in 0.917 fine silver (KM 18). Smaller denominations had been minted as far back as the 1870's. Mauritius remained under British rule until 1968.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000 plus prooofs.

Specifications: 2.92 g, 0.500 fine silver, 19 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Percy Metcalfe and George Kruger Gray.
