This specimen was lot 2796 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George VI, 1936-1947, ¼ rupee, 1946(b), full cartwheel luster, NGC graded MS63." The quarter rupee, originally a silver coin (KM-544), was switched to copper-nickel in 1940 and struck in that alloy until 1946 when this nickel type was issued. India obtained her independence in 1947-48 and this issue ceased.

Recorded mintage: 83,600,000.

Specification: 2.90 g, nickel, reeded edge.
