This specimen was lot 3216 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS, Victoria, 1837-1901. 1 Cent 1877 H, Heaton Mint. 1.89 g. KM 7. FDC. Prachtexemplar (Uncirculated, Cabinet piece)." This one cent piece was struck for Mauritius in 1877-78, 1882-84, 1888-90, 1896-97 and is the first coin of that denomination issued for that island along with an accompanying ten, twenty, two and five cent pieces. Its price ascends rapidly with grade. The island remained under British rule until 1968.
