Sincona sale 24, lot 2040

This specimen was lot 2040 in Sincona sale 25 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$12,352 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Ferdinando Gonzaga duca di Mantova e del Monferrato, 1612-1626 Ducatone 1613. FERD:CAR: D:G:DVX:MAN:VI:ET:M:F:IIII:· Bust in cardinal's attire to r., underneath: MDCXIIII. Rev. NON MVTVATA LVCE Sun with human features in double circle of rays. Very rare. Very fine to extremely fine. Attractive patina."

This type is listed with an Arabic date and a Roman numeral date (shown here) and an equally rare issue in 1615.
