This specimen was lot 32884 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mansfeld-Eisleben. Johann Georg, Christoph II, & Johann Ernst Taler 1572 AU53 NGC, Eisleben mint. Traditional St. George and dragon motif. Boldly struck for the issue with alluring old time collector toning. From the Jamestown Collection." Mansfeld and its subdivisions were counties of utmost insignificance except for its silver mines which provided the material for an abundance of thalers. This type was issued 1572-73 and undated.
