Lothar Friedrich von Metternich-Burscheid (1617-75) was the bishop of Speyer from 1652 to 1675 and succeeded Johann Philipp von Schönborn as archbishop of Mainz and bishop of Worms from 1673 to 1675. Pluralism was common in the seventeenth century. This is an off-metal presentation strike of half ducat weight which the SCWC lists as a pattern. These presentation strikes were very popular in the Netherlands and appear occasionally in the German series.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver or billon, this specimen gold, 1,71 g.
