This specimen was lot 30542 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Mainz. Georg Friedrich von Greiffenklau gold Ducat 1629, MS62 NGC. Obv. Arms in ornate frame divide the date. Rev. Four line inscription in cartouche. The strike is bold, the surfaces are free of significant flaws, and substantial luster remains." Friedberg lists this type for 1628-29 only and notes it as the most common Mainz ducat of the seventeenth century.
