This specimen was lot 2639 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "MADRAS PRESIDENCY: AR rupee, Chinapatan, year 12, in the name of the Mughal Muhammad Shah; appears to be unpublished date, bold VF, RR." This type was struck in the name of the Mughal emperor years 4, 7, 8, 9 and 11. Chinapattan is a town south of Madras (Chennai), known to the British as Chingleput and today called Chengalpattu.
