This specimen was lot 35114 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "Switzerland: Lucerne. Canton 5 Batzen 1815 MS66 NGC. Certainly of finer quality than is the usual for the type and a treat to encounter in gem designation. With a satisfying blooming luster and a blushed champagne tone throughout. From the Feeling Good Collection." This type was struck 1815-16 and is fairly common. Five batzen equalled one-eighth of a thaler or half a franc. The last issue from this canton was a copper rappen (KM 119) of 1839-46.
