Luzern 1611 schilling KM-13
This specimen was lot 2846 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$330 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Lucerne, Stadt und Kanton, Schilling 1611. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (city and canton of Lucerne, schilling of 1611. Rare, Good very fine.)"
The SCWC notes two different schillinge for 1611: this type of 1609-11 (KM 13), with the date in the center, and KM 17 (1611-22), with the date in the legend. At this time, one thaler made 36 schilling or 72 kreuzer. St. Leodegar, depicted on the reverse, made an enemy of Ebroin, mayor of the palace of Neustria, and was blinded on his orders in AD 679.
