Lubeck 1627 16 schilling
This specimen was lot 1321 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$580 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Lübeck, Stadt, 1/2 Taler 1627/6, Lübeck. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1626 geändert. Mit Titel Ferdinands II. und dem Abzeichen des Bürgermeisters Alexander Lüneburg. Münzmeister Heinrich von der Klähren. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. Hübsche Patina. Exemplar der Slg. Schierhorn, Auktion Künker 176, Osnabrück, September 2010, Los. 5400. Exemplar aus dem Lager der Firma Oldenburg, Kiel. (Germany, city of Lübeck, half thaler of 1627, 1627-6 overdate, Lubeck mint, struck in the name of Ferdinand II. Rare, Good Very Fine, Attractively toned.)"
This scarce type was struck 1620-35. It is listed in the SCWC as a sixteen schilling, not a half thaler, altho worth the same.
