This specimen was lot 6353 in CNG Triton XXVIII (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $612.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY, Lübeck (Free and Hanseatic City). nomine Ferdinand II. Holy Roman Emperor, 1619-1637. AR Taler. Dated 1626. Half-length bust of St. John facing, holding Gospels; to right, agnus dei right, head left, with cruciform staff and banner; coat-of-arms below / Crowned double-headed eagle facing, with globus cruciger on breast. Toned, a few scratches, minor edge marks. Good VF. From the Drewry Family Collection. Ex Kurt R. Krueger (27 November 1986), lot 1153." This type was struck 1620-27. It is among the more available of the generally scarce thalers from this locale.
