city and bishopric of Lübeck in 1648

This specimen was lot 4031 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €380 (about US$497 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LÜBECK, STADT. Reichstaler (32 Schilling) 1603, mit Titel Rudolfs II. und dem Abzeichen des Bürgermeisters Gotthard von Höveln. R Winz. Sammlerpunze im Rand, kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön +. (Germany, city of Lubeck, thaler of 1603, in the name of Rudolf II and the badge of mayor Gotthard of Hoveln. Scarce, small punch mark on the edge, scratches, very fine or better.)"

This type, unlike Dav-LS331, was struck using dies of ordinary diameter (40-42 mm). It is listed for 1601-04 and, tho scarce, is not rare lie the broad thaler.
