This specimen was lot 40727 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $27,025. The catalog description^[1] noted, "POLAND. Lithuania. Taler, 1586-NB. NGC MS-64. Choice 1586 Lithuania Taler of Stephen Bathory (1576-86). VERY RARE legend variety with small 'N' in 'TRAN'. Highly lustrous, sharply struck, and attractively toned. From the Demarete Collection." The very similar Dav-8456 lacks the "NB" mintmark.
