This specimen was lot 72130 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "LEBANON. 50 Piastres, 1936. Paris Mint. PCGS AU-53 Gold Shield. Emanating from the final year in a brief, three-year series, this lightly handled specimen is difficult no matter the state of preservation. Not surprisingly, PCGS has graded just three finer." The area of Lebanon was taken from Ottoman control after World War I, and placed under French mandate along with Syria. It was declared the Etat du Gran Liban in 1920. This type was also struck in 1929 and 1933. The 0.680 fine alloy is similar to that used on French coins of the Thirties, specifically, the ten francs.

Recorded mintage: 100,000.

Specification: 10 g, 0.680 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-8; Lec-43.
