Lebanon 1929 50 piastres

Stephen Album sale 32, lot 921

The area of Lebanon was taken from Ottoman control after World War I, and placed under French mandate along with Syria. It was declared the Etat du Gran Liban in 1920. This fifty piastres was struck in Paris in 1929 along with a ten piastres (KM 6) and a 25 piastres (KM 7). It was reissued in 1933 and 1936. This specimen was lot 921 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description^[1] noted, "LEBANON: AR 50 piastres, 1929, PCGS graded MS65."
