This specimen was lot 1698 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $357. The catalog description[1] noted, "LEBANON: French Mandate, AR 25 piastres, 1929, essai issue, cleaned, NGC graded Specimen details, RR." Except for the word "ESSAI" punched into the reverse, this specimen seems to be identical to the production issue of 1929, 1933 and 1936. It was accompanied by a ten and fifty piastres.
Recorded mintage: unknown (production issue 600,000).
