Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 3357

This specimen was lot 3357 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 25 € (about US$32 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Laos. 1989. 50 kip. Juegos Olímpicos - Barcelona '92. Waterpolo. AG. Proof." This NCLT, one of the few issued by this impoverished country, features Olympic water polo. This type exists with the pool water frosted (KM 36.1) or unfrosted (KM 36.2). The frosted variety is awarded a slight premium.

Recorded mintage: 5,000 (both varieties).
