This specimen was lot 42449 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "KOREA. 5 Chon, Year 11 (1907). Kojong (as Emperor). NGC MS-64." This type, roughly equal to five cents, was struck in 1907 in the last years of Korean independence before annexation by Japan. Korea would not recover her independence until 1945 and even then in a divided state. The reported mintage seems improbable.
Recorded mintage: 160,000,000.
Specification: 4.5 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-1126.
