This specimen was lot 31125 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "Kiribati: Republic gold Proof "Christmas Island" 200 Dollars 2000 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Valcambi mint. A nearly flawless Proof that shows perfect contrast between the devices and the fields. From the Paramount Collection." This NCLT was accompanied by a half ounce $50 (KM 35). Kiribati, formerly the British colony of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, is a group of coral islands in the Pacific. It was the scene of some of the fiercest battles of World War Two.
