Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 52561
SB421-52561r.jpg

This specimen was lot 52561 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Szechuan-Shensi Soviet. 20 Cents, ND (1933). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, AU Details Gold Shield. An enticing issue, this example is a mostly olive-gunmetal gray example with some deposits near the bottom of the hammer-and-sickle side, ultimately accounting for the details designation." Except for the fact that they eventually won out and conquered all of China, the communists in the early thirties were merely one of many bandit gangs vying for power. This type was struck 1933-34.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.5 g, silver.

Catalog reference: L&M-895; K-807; KM-Y508; WS-1338.
