Kansu (Gansu) Province is an elongate territory that straddles north-central China, at the west end of the Great Wall. Two mints issued coins in the province.

The specimen shown was lot 60242 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $5676. The catalog description[1] noted, “CHINA. Kansu. Dollar, Year 17 (1928). 民國三年袁世凱像“甘肅”壹圓銀幣. Sun Yat-sen; Evidence of old cleaning. 有早期清洗跡象。NGC EF Details--Surface Hairlines.”
