This hundred yen was issued for the emperor Hirohito and was struck 1967-88. It superseded a silver 100 yen (KM 78) struck 1959-66. This type, suitably modified for the emperor Akihito, was struck until 2019.

Recorded mintage: 432,200,000.

Specification: 4.2 g, copper-nickel, 22.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
